Abstract:Objective To study the effect of alendronate treats the postoperative pain in degenerative lumbar scoliosis. Methods There were 73 postoperative patients of degenerative lumbar scoliosis between Jan. 2009 and Dec. 2011 enrolled in this study. They were divided randomly into Alendronate Group and Control Group. All patients given anti-osteoporosis treat-ment begin from 2 weeks after operation, the Control Group took Caltrate D while the Alendronate Group took alendronate and Caltrate D. Regularly follow-ups were made to select the data of back function scores,BMD,Ca2+,ALP,S-CTX. Results There are 37 cases(Alendronate Group)and 32 cases(Control Group)completed the follow-up(2 to 5 years, mean 2. 87years). The two groups are similar all the data at the beginning, but the Alendronate Group got better function and BMI,and lower bone turnover and postoperative pain at the last follow-up. Conclusion The treatment of alendronate and Caltrate D af-ter spinal fusion in degenerative lumbar scoliosis can relieve the postoperative pain greatly.
