A Meta-analysis of Less Invasive Stabilization System(LISS)for the Management of Intertrochanter-ic Fractures of the Hip
Abstract:Objective To determine the effect of(Less invasive stabilization system,LISS)for intertrochanteric fractures. Methods MEDLINE(1990-October,2013),EMBASE(1990-October,2013). CochraneLibrary( October,2013)andCNKI (1990-October,2013). CBM(1990-October,2013). VIP(1990-October,2013)and WANFANGDATA(1990-October,2013) and the relevant Chinese and English orthopedic journals were searched retrospectively. Randomized controlled trials(RCTs). quasi-randomised controlled trial(qRCT)and Controlled clinical trial(NRCT)of LISS for Intertrochanteric fractures were in-cluded. The system review was performed with the method recommended by the Cochrane Collaboration. Results six studies (1RCTs. 2qRCTs 和 3NRCT)were included, involving 363 patients(172 LISS cases,90 PFNA cases,80 DHScases AND 21PCCPcases). The results of meta analysis showed there were no significant differences in the total effects[MD = 1. 18,95%CI(0. 67,2. 08),P > 0. 05]Conclusion Compared with DHS,PFNA and PCCP,LISS have no advantages in operating time, post-operative infections,post-operative mortality,or the length of stay in hospital for intertrochanteric fractures. But the femoral LISS is a safe and satisfactory option for the treatment of proximal femoral fractures. For unstable fractures that nailing may be difficult, the reverse LISS may be a good alternative.
