Clinical Observation of Vertebral Pillar Block Implantation through Vertebral Pedicle in Treatment of Thoracolumbar Vertebral Fractures
Abstract:Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of vertebral pillar block implantation through vertebral pedicle in treatment of thoracolumbar vertebral fractures. Methods The study involved 21patients(42 vertebral pillar blocks)with tho-racolumbar vertebral fractures without neurological deficit treated with vertebral pillar block implantation through vertebral ped-icle in our hospital. The ratio of vertebral height,Cobb angle,Visual analogue scale(VAS)and early postoperative recovery were evaluated. Results 21 patients were followed up for 10 ~ 24 months(mean 13. 7 months). The ratio of vertebral height, Cobb angle and VAS were significantly different(P ﹤ 0. 01). Conclusion Vertebral pillar block implantation can effectively restore the vertebral mechanical strength, reduce further loss of vertebral height. It is a safe and effective method for thoraco-lumbar vertebral fractures.
