Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of traditional Chinese medicine intervention via wet-hot compress on postoperative vertebral function and rehabilitation process in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression frac-tures(OVCF).Methods:A total of 118 patients with OVCF who underwent surgical treatment in Wuhu Traditional Chinese Medicine hospital from January 2021 to December 2023 were divided into the observation group and the control group using atable of random numbers, with 59 cases in each group. The control group received routine postoperative rehabilitation intervention, while the observation group received traditional Chinese medicine intervention via wet-hot compress.Traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores, vertebral pain degree, vertebral function, rehabilitation effect-sand complications were compared between the two groups. Results:A month after surgery, traditional Chinese medicine-syndrome scores, current pain intensity scores and oswestry disability index(ODI)scores of the observation group were signifi-cantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Meanwhile,anterior height(AH),posterior height(PH)and AH/PH of fractured vertebral bodies in the observation group were larger compared to the control group(P<0.05).The total incidence of complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Traditional Chinese medicine intervention via wet-hot compress can effectively reduce traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores of patients undergoing surgery for OVCF,alleviate vertebral pain, improve vertebral func-tion,and promote recovery.
