Abstract:Objective:To analyze the related risk factors of poor prognosis in elderly patients with mechanical intes-tinal obstruction. Methods:A total of 60 elderly patients with mechanical intestinal obstruction in Tianjin People's Hos-pital from January 2022 to January 2025 were selected and divided into good prognosis group(n=30 cases)and poor prognosis group(n=30 cases)according to their prognosis. The characteristics and related risk factors of patients be-tween two group were analyzed. Results:Univariate analysis showed that PG-SGA grade, operation duration, history of diabetes, disappearance of bowel sounds, incidence of progressive abdominal pain and body mass index(BMI),C-re-active protein(CRP),procalcitonin(PCT),interleukin-6(IL-6)and neutrophil—to—lymphocyte ratio(NLR)lev-els were the influencing factors of mechanical intestinal obstruction in the elderly(all P<0.05).High PG-SGA grade, high PCT,high IL-6 and high NLR are independent risk factors for poor prognosis in elderly patients with me-chanical intestinal obstruction(P<0.05).Higher BMI in normal range was an independent protective factor(P<0.05).Conclusion:Elevated levels of PG-SGA classification, serum PCT,IL-6,and NLR are associated with poor prog-nosis in elderly patients with mechanical intestinal obstruction, while a higher BMI in normal range has a protective effect.Monitoring these parameters can help assess the extent of inflammatory response and nutritional status in pa-tients,providing a basis for clinical intervention, thereby optimizing treatment strategies and improving the recovery outcomes and quality of life for elderly patients.
