The effect of bamboo ring salt moxibustion combined with traditional Chinese medicine hot compress on pain and functional recovery in patients with knee osteoarthritis

Abstract：Objective:To explore the application effect of bamboo ring salt moxibustion combined with traditional Chinese medicine hot compress in patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA).Methods:All 100 patients with KOA were included,all of whom received treatment in Ganzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from October 2022 to Octo-ber 2024.They were randomly divided into two groups using a random number table,with 50 patients in each group.The control group received routine nursing care,while the observation group was treated with bamboo ring salt moxi-bustion combined with traditional Chinese medicine hot compress intervention.Both groups received continuous inter-vention for 10 days.The knee joint function,range of motion,stride length,pace,activity of daily living and quality of life were compared between the two groups.Results:After the intervention,the osteoarthritis index(WOMAC)and visual analogue scale(VAS)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,while the joint mobili-ty,step length,walking speed and SF-36 scores were higher than those in the control group,with statistical signifi-cance(P＜0.05).Conclusion:The combination of bamboo ring salt moxibustion and traditional Chinese medicine hot compress can alleviate pain,improve knee joint function and range of motion in patients with knee osteoarthritis,and en-hance their quality of life.
