Abstract:Objective:To analyze the effects of six Sigma on the rate of pathogenic examination and the quality of microbial samples before antibiotics treatment. Methods:A total of 15 835 patients who were hospitalized in Xingguo Hospital Affiliated to Gannan Medical University and used antibiotics from January 2024 to December 2024 were select-ed as the study objects. They were divided into 9 180 cases before Six Sigma management mode intervention(January 2024 to June 2024),as the control group, and 6 655 cases after six sigma management mode intervention(July 2024 to December 2024),as the intervention group. The rate of pathogenic examination before treatment with restricted grade and special grade antibiotics, the rate of pathogenic examination before treatment with hospitalized patients combined with key antibiotics, the rate of pathogenic examination related to nosocomial infection diagnosis, the incidence of drug-resistant bacterial infection, the rate of unqualified specimens, the proportion of sterile specimens, the rate of various pathogenic items, the length of hospital stay, and the cost of antibacterial drugs were evaluated. Results:In the interven-tion group, the rate of pathogenic examination before treatment with restricted grade and special grade antibiotics, the rate of pathogenic examination related to hospital infection diagnosis was higher than that of the control group, the inci-dence of drug-resistant bacterial infection was lower than that of the control group, the rate of unqualified specimens was lower than that of the control group, the proportion of sterile specimens was higher than that of the control group, and the rate of various pathogenic items was higher than that of the control group. The duration of hospitalization was shorter than that of control group, and the cost of antibiotics was lower than that of control group(P<0.05).Conclu-sion:The evidence-based control strategy of six sigma management can improve the rate of pathogenic detection before treatment with antibiotics, reduce the incidence of drug-resistant bacteria infection and the rate of unqualified speci-mens,and reduce the length of hospital stay and hospital expenses of patients, which is worth promoting.
