Exploration and effectiveness evaluation of standardized patient scenario teaching method in elderly care training for newly hired nurses

Abstract：Objective:To explore the effect of applying standardized patient(SP)situational teaching method in the training of new nurses in elderly care.Methods:All 120 newly hired nurses who require elderly care training in hospital from January 2022 to September 2024 were selected and randomly divided into two groups of 60 each using a random number table method.The control group adopted traditional theoretical and practical teaching modes,while the observa-tion group adopted the SP situational teaching method on this basis.The nursing ability,knowledge and skills of the elderly were compared between the two groups.Results:After 3 months of teaching,the scores of elderly care ability,elderly care knowledge,and nursing skills in both groups increased,and the observation group was higher than the con-trol group(P＜0.05).Conclusion:The application of SP situational teaching method in the elderly care training for newly hired nurses can improve their scores in elderly care knowledge and skills,and enhance their elderly care abilities.
