Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of tranexamic acid-assisted laser therapy on the area and color of melasma in patients with moderate and severe facial melasma. Methods:A total of 94 patients with moderate to severe facial melloasma admitted to Guiyang limeikang Plastic Surgery Hospital from June 2021 to September 2023 were divid-ed into two groups with 47 each. The control group received laser therapy and the observation group received adjuvant tranexamic acid therapy, all evaluated after 3 months of treatment. The clinical efficacy, chloasma area and color, serum markers, skin barrier function, and adverse effects were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the chloasma area and color score, serum cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2),melanotropin(MSH)and percutaneous water loss(TEWL)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, while the vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),stratum corneum water content and sebum content were higher than those in the control group, with statistical differences(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:The treatment of tranexamic acid-assisted laser therapy in patients with moderate and severe facial chloasma can effectively reduce clinical symptoms, reduce COX-2 and MSH levels, and improve skin barrier function with high safety.
