Current status of psychosocial adaptation in patients undergoing radical operation for breast cancer and its relationship with family care and social support

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the current status of psychosocial adaptation in patients undergoing radical op-eration for breast cancer,and its relationship with family care and social support.Methods:A total of 85 patients who underwent radical operation for breast cancer in the hospital from July 2021 to July 2023 were selected.A total of 85 questionnaires were distributed and 80 were effectiuely recovered.They were grouped according to the psychosocial ad-aptation questionnaire score[low adaptation group(<132 points,n=47)and medium to high adaptation group(≥132 points,n=33)],the family care index(APGAR)score[low care group(≤3 points,n=29)and medium to high care group(4~10 points,n=51)],and the social support rating scale(SSRS)score[low support group(<20 points,n=17)and medium to high support group(20~40 points,n=63)].The scores of different groups were compared.The correlation between the status of psychosocial adaptation in patients undergoing radical operation for breast cancer and family care,social support was analyzed.Results:A total of 85 questionnaires were sent out,and 80 were effectively re-covered,with a recovery rate of 94.12%.The scores for self-esteem,self-acceptance,self-control,self-efficacy,sense of belonging and attitude in the psychosocial adaptation questionnaire and total score of the medium to high adap-tation group were higher than those of the low adaptation group(P<0.05).The anxiety/depression score was lower than that of the low adaptation group(P<0.05).The scores for adaptability,intimacy,emotion,cooperation and growth in the APGAR questionnaire and total score of the medium to high care group were higher than those of the low care group(P<0.05).The scores for subjective support,objective support and utilization of support in the SSRS and total score of the medium to high support group were higher than those of the low support group(P<0.05).Except anxiety/depression score,the scores of all domains in the psychosocial adaptation questionnaire were positively correla-ted with the APGAR scores and SSRS scores(P<0.05).Anxiety/depression score was negatively correlated with the APGAR scores and SSRS scores(P<0.05).Conclusion:The current status of psychosocial adaptation in patients un-dergoing radical operation for breast cancer is not good.Improving family care and social support may help improve the patient'spsychosocial adaptation.
