The effect of combination of room moistening mirror and praprofen eye drops in the treatment of mod-erate to severe dry eye after cataract surgery

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the effect of room moistening mirror combined with praprofen eye drops in the treatment of moderate to severe dry eye after cataract surgery and its impact on serum serum levels of matrix metallo-proteinase 2(MMP-2)and Interleukin-2(IL-2).Methods:All 63 patients with moderate and severe dry eye after cataract surgery in hospital from September 2019 to September 2022 were divided into control group(n=32)and ob-servation group(n=31)according to random number table.The control group was routinely treated with praprofen eye drops,while the observation group was treated with room moistening mirror+praprofen eye drops.Clinical efficacy,clinical symptoms,tear membrane function,and inflammation-related factor levels were observed in both groups.Re-sults:The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P＜0.05),and the oc-ular surface diseaseindex(OSDI)of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P＜0.05).The length of tear secretion test(SIT)and tear film break-up time(BUT)in the observation group were longer than those in the control group(P＜0.05),and the levels of MMP-2 and IL-2 in both groups were lower than those before treatment,the level in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclu-sion:The chamber moistening mirror can improve the clinical efficacy,clinical symptoms and tear film function of pa-tients with moderate and severe dry eye after cataract surgery,and the ocular inflammatory response.
