Abstract:Objective:To analyze the effect of preoperative nursing evaluation and warning system on reducing post-operative nausea and vomiting(PONV)in patients with spinal diseases. Methods:All 80 surgical patients admitted to the spinal disease area of our hospital from January 2020 to November 2022 were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 40 patients in each group. The control group received routine preoperative and postop-erative care, while the observation group received PONV risk assessment using the Apfel simplified risk score based on the control group.Preventive treatment was given according to the Apfel score. The incidence of PONV,postoperative pain and complications were compared between the two groups. Results:Both groups experienced PONV,and the inci-dence of PONV in the observation group was lower than that in the control group at 0~8 and 9~16 hours after surger-y,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of PONV be-tween the two groups at 17~24 h after operation(P>0.05).At 6 h and 12 h after operation, the scores of verbal de-scription scale(VDS)in the observation group were significantly better than those in the control group(P<0.05),there was no significant difference in VDS score between the two groups(P>0.05).The incidence of aspiration pneu-monia in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The pre-operative nursing evaluation and early warning system can conduct PONV risk assessment for patients undergoing spi-nal surgery in the affected area, and providing appropriate preventive measures based on the assessment results can ef-fectively reduce the incidence of PONV.
