Effect of bamboo salt moxibustion combined with Chinese medicine retention enema on ulcerative colitis and its influence on cytokines

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the effect of bamboo salt moxibustion combined with Chinese medicine reten-tion enema on ulcerative colitis(UC)and its influence on cytokines.Methods:All 120 UC patients treated in hospital from January 2021 to January 2023 were divided into three groups with 40 cases each by random number table method.The control group was treated with conventional western medicine,the traditional Chinese medicine retention enema group was treated with conventional Western medicine+traditional Chinese medicine retention enema group,and the comprehensive treatment group was treated with conventional Western medicine+traditional Chinese medicine reten-tion enema+bamboo salt moxibustion group.The three groups were treated continuously for 4 weeks.The clinical effi-cacy,cytokine level,electronic colonoscopy score,TCM symptom score,adverse reaction and recurrence rate of the three groups were compared.Results:The total effective rate of the combined treatment group was higher than that of the control group and the Chinese medicine retention enema group,and the Chinese medicine retention enema group was higher than that of the control group(P＜0.05).The levels of interleukin-1β(IL-1β),interleukin-8(IL-8),the e-lectronic colonoscopy score and the TCM syndrome score of the combined treatment group were lower than that of the control group and the Chinese medicine retention enema group after treatment.The retention enema group was lower than the control group(P＜0.05).No obvious adverse reactions were observed in the three groups.The recurrence rate was compared between the combined treatment group and the Chinese medicine retention enema group(P＞0.05).However,the recurrence rate of the combined treatment group was lower than that of the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion:Bamboo salt moxibustion combined with traditional Chinese medicine retention enema is safe and effective in the treatment of UC,which can reduce inflammation,intestinal mucosal lesions and recurrence rate.
