Investigation of osteoporosis cognitive situation and training needs in Nanshan District of Shenzhen

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the public's cognition situation and related influencing factors of osteoporosis in Nanshan District of Shenzhen,and realize the public's demand for knowledge training on osteoporosis,so as to provide a scientific basis for the comprehensive prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in Shenzhen.Methods:The people,who came to Nanshan District of Shenzhen from February to December 2022,were involved in this study.The demographic characteristics information and training demand was collected,and the cognition situation of osteoporosis was evaluated using the osteoporosis knowledge assessment questionnaire.Results:A total of 4,380 interviewees were included in this study.The mean score of osteoporosis knowledge assessment scale was(16.62±4.61),and the overall accuracy rate was 60.95%.Residents with different gender,age,education level,occupation,per capita monthly household income and awareness of osteoporosis have different scores of osteoporosis knowledge.Further analysis shows that female,old age,high education level,high per capita monthly family income and self-reported knowledge of osteoporosis were favora-ble factors for obtaining high score of osteoporosis knowledge(OR>1,P<0.05).In this survey on the demand of oste-oporosis knowledge training,90.12%of the respondents hoped to receive training on osteoporosis knowledge,and they prefer to acquire relevant knowledge through the Internet or community health promotion activities.Conclusion:The public in Nanshan District has a good cognition of osteoporosis,which is related to the gender,age,education level,per capita monthly family income and self-reported knowledge of osteoporosis.And the public has a strong demand for os-teoporosis knowledge training.
