Analysis of related factors of severe myelosuppression in 3 patients with AIDS related lymphoma after chemotherapy

Abstract:Objective: To analyze of myelosuppression in patients with AIDS related lymphoma after chemotherapy and make a study of pharmaceutical care model of those patients. Methods: Analyzed chemotherapy induced myelosuppression in three patients with AIDS related lymphoma on the basis of clinical pharmacist's knowledge of pharmacology and adverse reaction of antineoplastic drugs and anti-HIV drugs. And explored the pharmaceutical care model of those patients. Results: The major cause of myelosuppression of these three patients was using zidovudine and antineoplastic drugs at the same time. After the discontinuation of zidovudine, two patients' anemia improved gradually and recovered finally, the other patient's anemia improved also and tended to be stable. Conclusion: The combination of zidovudine and antineoplastic drugs can aggravate the degree of myelosuppression. Clinical pharmacist should do Medication Reconciliation for those patients to adjust the anti-HIV therapy timely.
