Correlation between care burden and fatigue status of caregivers of parkinson patients

Abstract:Objective: To explore the influence of caregiver burden on fatigue status of caregivers of parkinson's patients. Methods: All 97 parkinson patients who were treated in hospital from January to December in 2017 and discharged from hospital were selected to investigate the care and fatigue status of the caregivers of parkinson patients by using the caregiver burden inventory (CBI), positive aspectsof caregiving (PAC), social support rating scale (SSRS), the multi-dimensional fatigue inventory-20 (MFI-20). Results: The total score of caregivers of parkinson patients was (51. 23 ± 6. 72), positive total score (29. 31 ± 6. 25), total fatigue score (53. 02 ± 5. 77), and social support total score (6. 33 ± 1. 07). There was a positive correlation between the care fatigue and caregiver burden of parkinson' s caregivers (P < 0. 05), which was negatively correlated with positive feelings and social support (P < 0. 05). Conclusion: The heavy burden of caregivers of parkinson' s patients will increase their fatigue. Social support and positive feelings can effectively relieve fatigue. Therefore, the effective nursing intervention measures should be actively formulated to increase the positive feelings and social support of the caregivers, reduce the care burden of the caregivers and alleviate the care fatigue of the caregivers, thus improving the quality of care for parkinson patients.
