Abstract:Objective:To study the expression of Fas and FasL in human gestational trophoblastic diseases and their rela-tion to apoptosis of infiltrating lymphocytes. Methods:The reverse transcription - polymerase chain reaction(RT - PCR)and immunohistochemical method were used to detect Fas,FasL mRNAs and proteins expression respectively. The apoptosis of infil-trating lymphocytes was detected by situ nick ending - labeling technique. Results:From hydatidiform mole to invasive hydatid-iform mole and choriocarcinoma, the expression of Fas showed an descending tendency and FasL showed an ascending tenden-cy,which showed a trend of polarization. Meanwhile, the apoptosis index of infiltrating lymphocyte increased gradually with the progress of gestational trophoblastic diseases, and the apoptosis index in FasL positive group was higher than that in FasL nega-tive group. Conclusions:The lower expression of Fas and higher expression of FasL might increase the apoptosis of infiltrating lymphocytes, which might involve in the pathogenesis of gestational trophoblastic diseases.
