Abstract:Objective:To develop a scale for the metacognitive ability of operating room nurses and test its reliability and validity,so as to provide an effective tool for the assessment of the metacognitive abilities of operating room nurses. Methods:Based on metacognitive theory,a metacognitive ability scale for operating room nurses was developed through literature review, qualitative interviews, expert inquiries, and pre surveys. From October to November 2024,a convenience sampling method was used to select 618 operating room nurses from Shanghai city and Sichuan province as the research subjects. The Metacognitive Ability Scale for Operating Room Nurses was used for investigation to test its reliability and validity. Results:The Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.948.The split-half reliability was 0.868.The test-retest reliability was 0.952.Exploratory factor analysis extracted 3 common factors, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 60.075%.Confirmatory factor analysis results showed a good model fit.The scale-level content validity index/average was 0.953.The item-level content validity index ranged from 0.870 to 1.000.Conclusions:The Metacognitive Ability Scale for Operating Room Nurses has good reliability and validity, and could be used to measure the metacognitive ability level of operating room nurses.
