Abstract:Objective:To translate the Dialysis-Related Stigma Scale into Chinese, and to test its reliability and validity. Methods:The Brislin translation model was adopted for forward and back translation of the Dialysis-Related Stigma Scale. On the basis of expert inquiries and pre-surveys,the scale was culturally adapted to form the Chinese version of Dialysis-Related Stigma Scale.A total of 406 dialysis patients from 3 hospitals in Shandong province were selected as the research subjects. The Chinese version of Dialysis-Related Stigma Scale was used for the investigation to test its reliability and validity. Results:The Chinese version of Dialysis-Related Stigma Scale included 3 dimensions and 9 items. The Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.854.The split-half coefficient was 0.710.The test-retest reliability was 0.844.The item-level content validity index(I-CVI)ranged from 0.846 to 1.000.The average scale-level content validity index(S-CVI/Ave)was 0.946.Exploratory factor analysis extracted three common factors. The cumulative contribution rate of variance was 79.860%.The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the model fit well. Conclusions:The Chinese version of Dialysis-Related Stigma Scale has good reliability and validity, and could be used as an effective tool to evaluate the stigma of dialysis patients in China.
