Scoping review of assessment tools for abnormal eating behavior in patients with dementia

Abstract：Objective:To systematically collect the assessment tools for abnormal eating behavior of patients with dementia at home and abroad,to summarize and to analyze their characteristics and localization,and to provide evidence for clinical staff to choose assessment tools for abnormal eating behavior of patients with dementia.Methods:According to the scope review guidelines,the Chinese and English databases included CNKI,WanFang Database,VIP,CBM,PubMed,Web of Science,and EBSCO were systematically searched.Literature on abnormal eating behavior assessment tools for patients with dementia were manually searched and traced.Literature screening,data extraction and summary were carried out.The retrieval period spanned from the establishment of the database to September 25,2024.Results:A total of 30 articles were included.These articles were about the development,validation and revision of the abnormal eating behavior assessment tool for patients with dementia,and the localization and application in China.A total of 13 evaluation tools were summarized,among which 4 tools had been localized in China and tested for reliability and validity.One tool was developed by Chinese scholar.Conclusions:There were few assessment tools for abnormal eating behavior of patients with dementia in China and most of them were imported from abroad.It is suggested that the assessment tools for abnormal eating behavior of patients with dementia should be further developed,validated and improved according to the cultural characteristics of the country,so as to provide reference for identifying and evaluating abnormal eating behavior of patients with dementia and formulating clinical intervention measures.
