Abstract:Objective:To investigate the attitudes and needs of parents towards the right to prescribe external medications by visiting nurses in pediatric nursing clinics, and to provide reference for decision-making to promote the successful implementation of the right to prescribe external medications by nurses. Methods:A convenience sampling method was used to survey 211 parents of children attending the pediatric nursing clinic in a tertiary grade A children's hospital in Shenzhen city from December 2024 to January 2025 by using a questionnaire on parents' attitudes and needs for the right to prescribe topical medications by visiting nurses of the pediatric nursing clinic that was developed by the group itself in the previous period, and a univariate analysis was used to explore the factors that influenced it.Results:The scores of 211 parents' attitudes toward and needs for the pediatric nursing clinic visiting nurse's right to prescribe outside medications were 39.18±7.40 and 27.63±3.21,with score rates of 87.07%and 92.10%,respectively.The type of the children's primary disease, the age of the parents, the purpose of visiting the clinic, and visit satisfaction were the influences on the parents' attitudes toward the pediatric nursing clinic visiting nurse's prescription rights for outside medications(P<0.05).Visit satisfaction was a influence factor of parents' needs for pediatric nursing clinic visiting nurses' right to prescribe external medications(P<0.05).Conclusions:Parents generally have positive attitudes toward the right to prescribe external medications by visiting nurses in pediatric care clinics, but they are affected by the type of the child's primary illness, the parents' age,the purpose of the visit, and the satisfaction with the visit,so it is recommended that visiting nurses adopt targeted communication strategies for parents with different characteristics in order to improve their acceptance and trust in the nurses' external medication prescriptions.
