Work experience of full-time community hospice care nurses:a qualitative study

Abstract:Objective:To understand the work experiences of full-time community hospice care nurses in Shanghai,so as to provide reference for the development of targeted support policies.Methods:A phenomenological study method was conducted using purposive sampling.A total of 12 full-time community hospice care nurses were interviewed in-depth through face-to-face discussions.The interview data were analyzed using phenomenological analysis methods.Results:Four main themes and nine sub themes were identified,including:profound emotional journeys(adaptation to work situations,transformation of views on life),emotional experiences(negative emotions,sense of work value),work-related stress(high workload,unique communication pressures,compassion fatigue),and strategies for emotional regulation(daily self-regulation,actively seeking external support).Conclusions:Full-time community hospice care nurses face unique challenges and dual impacts in their work.It is essential to improve relevant training and support systems in the future to enhance their job satisfaction and promote the quality of community hospice care services.
