Sinicization of the Overweight Women's Quality of Life Scale and its reliability and validity test

Abstract:Objective:To translate the Overweight Women's Quality of Life Scale into Chinese,and to test its reliability and validity.To provide a scientific tool for assessing the quality of life of obese women in China.Methods:The Brislin translation model was adopted for forward and back translation of the Overweight Women's Quality of Life Scale.On the basis of expert inquiries and pre-surveys,the scale was culturally adapted to form the Chinese version of the Overweight Women's Quality of Life Scale.A total of 282 obese women from Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were selected as the research subjects.The Chinese version of the Overweight Women's Quality of Life Scale was used for the investigation to test its reliability and validity.Results:The Chinese version of Overweight Women's Quality of Life Scale included 4 dimensions and 34 items.The Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.945.The split-half coefficient was 0.928.The test-retest reliability was 0.868.The item-level content validity index(I-CVI)ranged from 0.930 to 1.000.The average scale-level content validity index(S-CVI/Ave)was 0.990.Exploratory factor analysis extracted four common factors.The cumulative contribution rate of variance was 71.855%.Conclusion:The Chinese version of the Overweight Women's Quality of Life Scale has good reliability and validity.It could be used to evaluate the quality of life of obese women in China.
