Abstract:Objective:To compare the effects of various Chinese traditional physical exercises(Tai Chi,Wu Qin Xi,Ba Duan Jin,Yi Jin Jing,Liu Zi Jue,and Ma Wang Dui Dao Yin)on glucose metabolism in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods:Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)on the impact of Chinese traditional physical exercises on glucose metabolism in T2DM patients were searched from CNKI,VIP,WanFang,CBM,PubMed,Web of Science,EBSCO(MedLine),Cochrane Library,ScienceDirect and EMbase databases. The retrieval period spanned from the establishment of the database to September 1,2024.Two researchers independently screened literature, extracted data, and evaluated the risk of bias in the included studies.A network Meta-analysis was performed by using Stata 15.0 software. Results:A total of 73 RCTs were included. The network Meta-analysis results showed that compared with conventional interventions and aerobic exercise,Tai Chi,Wu Qin Xi,Ba Duan Jin,Yi Jin Jing,Liu Zi Jue,and Ma Wang Dui Dao Yin all significantly improved fasting blood glucose level(P<0.05).Compared with conventional interventions,Tai Chi,Ba Duan Jin,Ma Wang Dui Dao Yin,Liu Zi Jue,and Wu Qin Xi significantly improved glycated hemoglobin level(P<0.05).Compared with aerobic exercise,Tai Chi and Ba Duan Jin improved glycated hemoglobin level(P<0.05).Compared with conventional interventions,Tai Chi,Ba Duan Jin,and Wu Qin Xi significantly improved fasting insulin level(P<0.05).Compared with aerobic exercise,Wu Qin Xi improved fasting insulin level(P<0.05).Compared with conventional interventions,Tai Chi,Ba Duan Jin,and Wu Qin Xi significantly improved 2-hour postprandial blood glucose level(P<0.05).Compared with aerobic exercise,Tai Chi significantly improved 2-hours postprandial blood glucose level(P<0.05).The cumulative probability ranking indicated that Tai Chi was the most effective in improving fasting blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, while Wu Qin Xi was the most effective in improving fasting insulin levels. Conclusion:Chinese traditional physical exercises could improve glucose metabolism in T2DM patients.Tai Chi is more effective.
