Influence of breast crawling behavior in newborns on early neurobehavioral responses

Abstract:Objective:To analyze the influence of breast crawling behavior on early neurobehavioral responses in newborns. Methods:A total of 100 newborns who underwent vaginal delivery at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from January 2023 to December 2024 were selected as the research subjects.According to the sealed envelope sampling method, they were divided into control group and observation group, with 50 cases in each. The control group received routine care, while the observation group received breast crawling behavior. The neurobehavioral response, body temperature, heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, and one month postpartum exclusive breastfeeding rate in the two groups were compared. Results:The neurobehavioral response scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference among body temperature, and blood oxygen saturation between the two groups of newborns at birth, and 30,60,and 90 minutes after birth and exclusive breastfeeding rate within 1 month(P>0.05).The heart rate of newborns in the observation group was higher than that in the control group at 60 and 90 minutes after birth, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Breast crawling behavior could promote early stabilization of neonatal neurobehavioral responses, maintain a high level of heart rate within the normal range, and do not affect neonatal body temperature, peripheral blood oxygen saturation, and the rate of exclusive breastfeeding at one month postpartum.
