Abstract:Objective:To conduct an in-depth analysis of older adults' expectations for a"good death"using Rodgers' evolutionary concept analysis method, aiming to better understand and fulfill their end-of-life care wishes and help them achieve a good death. Methods:Literature was screened by searching databases such as CNKI,WanFang Data,VIP,PubMed,and Web of Science. The analysis focused on the evolution of the concept, alternative terms and related terminology, antecedents, attributes, consequences, and representative cases. Results:A total of 48 articles were included, comprising 16 Chinese and 32 English publications. The conceptual attributes encompassed five dimensions:encouragement and companionship from loved ones, seeking spiritual solace, passing on virtuous qualities, overcoming negative emotions, and passing away peacefully and calmly. The antecedents of older adults' expectations for a good death included sociodemographic factors, personal factors, cultural factors, and social support factors. The primary consequence was whether these expectations were met. Conclusions:This study clarifies the concept of older adults' expectations for a good death, providing a foundation and reference for future qualitative research on this topic. It also offers new perspectives and insights for developing assessment tools and theoretical frameworks related to older adults' good death expectations.
