Abstract:Objective:To define the concept of patient power distance by using Rodgers' evolutionary concept analysis method and to summarize research progress on patient power distance. Methods:A systematic literature search was conducted in databases including CNKI,Wanfang Data,VIP Database,Web of Science,PubMed,and ScienceDirect. The retrieval period spanned to November 3,2024 by time.Based on Rodgers' evolutionary concept analysis,an in-depth exploration was performed on the evolution of the concept, surrogate and related terms, attributes, antecedents, consequences, and representative cases of patient power distance. Results:A total of 64 articles were included.Through literature analysis, four antecedents of patient power distance were identified:sociodemographic factors, individual factors, social support, and cultural differences, along with four attributes:tendency toward communication barriers,cognitive-informational disparities, passive participation in decision-making,and maladaptive coping with illness. Conclusions:To clarify the concept of patient power distance could provide a reference for future research on the topic. It could offer insights for developing assessment tools and theoretical models related to patient power distance as well.
