Correlation between readiness for hospital discharge,quality of discharge teaching and social support of postoperative patients with breast cancer

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the status quo of discharge readiness of postoperative patients with breast cancer,and to explore its influencing factors and its relationship with quality of discharge teaching and social support.Methods:A total of 253 breast cancer patients who received surgical treatment in the breast disease diagnosis and treatment center of a tertiary grade A hospital in Beijing from January 2020 to June 2023 were selected as the survey subjects.The General Information Questionnaire,the Chinese version of the Readiness for Hospital Discharge Scale,the Chinese version of the Quality of Discharge Teaching Scale,and the Social Support Rating Scale were used to investigate.Results:The total score on the Chinese version of the Discharge Preparation Scale for postoperative breast cancer patients was 69.96±5.55.The total score on the Chinese version of the Quality of Discharge Teaching Scale was 192.43±6.86.And the total score of the Social Support Rating Scale was 21.47±5.08.Pearson correlation analysis revealed that the total scale of Chinese version of the Readiness for Hospital Discharge Scale was positively correlated with both the Chinese version of the Quality of Discharge Teaching Scale total score and the the Social Support Rating Scale total score(P<0.05).Multiple factor analysis results showed that educational level,readiness for hospital discharge,and social support were influencing factors for discharge readiness in postoperative breast cancer patients(P<0.05).Conclusions:The discharge readiness of postoperative breast cancer patients is at a medium level.Improving the quality of discharge teaching and social support level could improve the discharge readiness of postoperative breast cancer patients.And it could provide theoretical basis for medical personnel to formulate relevant intervention measures.
