Current status and influencing factors of knowledge,attitude,and behavior of nursing staff on early essential newborn care

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the knowledge,attitude,and behavior of nursing staff on early essential newborn care(EENC)and its influencing factors,and to provide reference for the further development of EENC.Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted from April to July 2024 among 304 nurses in the pediatrics and obstetrics departments of a specialized hospital in Shanxi province.Single factor analysis and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the influencing factors of knowledge,attitude,and behavior of nursing staff on early essential newborn care.Results:The total score of knowledge,attitude,and behavior of nursing staff on early essential newborn care was 127.34±12.54.The score of knowledge dimension was 62.29±6.21.The score of attitude dimension was 28.76±2.24.The score of behavioral dimension was 36.30±8.51.The multiple linear regression analysis results showed that education level,having children or not,whether they were specialized nurses in pediatrics or obstetrics,and the number of training(P<0.05).Conclusions:Nursing staff have a relatively positive attitude towards early essential newborn care,with decent knowledge mastery,but their behavior needs to be strengthened.Nursing managers should establish quality control and feedback mechanisms,allocate specialized nursing resources reasonably,and improve the practical skills of nursing staff through systematic training,scenario simulation,case analysis,etc.,so as to achieve standardized and normalization implementation of early essential newborn care.
