Abstract:Objective:To translate the Situational Emotional Response Scale(ERES)into Chinese, and to test its reliability and validity among nursing interns. Methods:Following Brislin's translation model, the ERES was translated and back-translated,reviewed by the original author, culturally adapted, and retested to create a Chinese version of ERES.From April to July 2024,a total of 758 nursing interns from a tertiary grade A hospital in Henan province was surveyed to evaluate the scale's reliability and validity. Results:The Chinese version of the ERES consisted of four dimensions with a total of 29 items. The overall Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.960,with Cronbach's α coefficients for each dimension ranging from 0.880 to 0.967.The split-half reliability of the scale was 0.896,and the test-retest reliability was 0.874.The item-level content validity index ranged from 0.833 to 1.000,while the scale-level content validity index was 0.826.Exploratory factor analysis extracted four common factors with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 78.268%.Confirmatory factor analysis indicated a good model fit. Conclusions:The Chinese version of ERES has good reliability and validity, providing a comprehensive tool to assess nursing interns'emotional response abilities in patient-care conflict situations. It offers a valuable basis for managers to develop training plans and targeted interventions.
