Investigation on the supply-demand matching in long-term care services for the elderly in integrated medical-nursing institutions in Yantai city

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the quo of supply-demand matching in long-term care services for the elderly in integrated medical-nursing institutions in Yantai city.Methods:A total of 437 elderly admitted to integrated medical-nursing institutions in Yantai city were selected as study subjects by convenience sampling from July to November 2023.A general information questionnaire and a supply-demand matching assessment scale for long-term care services for the elderly in integrated medical-nursing institutions were used to survey the elderly.Results:The demand score for long-term care services among the elderly in integrated medical-nursing institutions was 80.00(62.00,102.00),while the supply score was 63.00(46.00,82.00).Overall,both demand and supply scores tended to increase with higher care levels.Elderly individuals care levels from 0 to 3 had higher demand scores for services such as emergency treatment for sudden illnesses,chronic disease prevention and monitoring,physical examinations,vital sign monitoring,health knowledge dissemination,and health education.In contrast,those care levels at 4 and 5 had higher demand scores for daily basic care services such as assistance with bathing,dressing/undressing,toileting,eating and drinking,and turning and back patting.Conclusions:The overall demand level of elderly in integrated medical-nursing institutions was moderate.However,the supply level was generally low.Those with lower care levels had higher demands for medical and health-related services.And those with higher care levels had higher demands for daily basic care.
