Abstract:Objective:To explore the impact of psychodrama intervention on the mental health status and quality of life of elderly patients with chronic diseases. Methods:A total of 130 elderly patients with chronic diseases were selected from August 2022 to March 2024 and randomly divided into control group and observation group,65 cases each group.Patients in control group received routine nursing intervention, while the observation group received psychodrama intervention in addition to the routine care. The mental health status[Geriatric Depression Scale(GDS),State-Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAI),Emotional-Social Loneliness Inventory(ESLI)]and quality of life[World Health Organization Quality of Life-Brief Version(WHOQOL-BREF)]were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. Results:After the intervention, patients in observation group showed significantly lower scores on the GDS,STAI,and ESLI scales compared to that of the control group(P<0.05).While the scores across all dimensions of the WHOQOL-BREF were significantly higher(P<0.05).Conclusions:Compared to routine nursing alone, the combination of psychodrama intervention could help to alleviate negative emotions such as anxiety, depression, and loneliness in elderly patients with chronic diseases and improves their quality of life.
