Abstract:Objective:To translate and adapt the Simplified Nutritional Appetite Questionnaire(SNAQ)into Chinese and to evaluate its reliability and validity in assessing anorexia among elderly residents in nursing homes. Methods:Following the Brislin translation model, the SNAQ was translated and back-translated into Chinese. The questionnaire was then reviewed by an expert committee and adjusted based on feedback from a pilot test.Subsequently,233 elderly residents in nursing homes in Hunan Province were conveniently sampled for a survey to assess the reliability and validity of the Chinese version. Results:The overall content validity index(S-CVI)of the Chinese version of the SNAQ was 0.825.And the item-level content validity index(I-CVI)ranged from 0.5 to 1.0.Exploratory factor analysis extracted two common factors with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 72.050%.The overall Cronbach's α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.609.And the test-retest reliability was 0.875.Conclusions:The Chinese version of the SNAQ demonstrates good reliability and validity in assessing anorexia among elderly residents in nursing homes. It is suitable for use in this population.
