Abstract:Objective:To construct a health literacy assessment scale for children with dwarfism and test its reliability and validity,so as to provide a basis for medical staff to measure the health literacy of children with dwarfism. Methods:Based on a review of the literature,semi-structured interviews were conducted based on the Timing Theory to form the initial draft of the scale. After Delphi expert consultation and a pre-test,the assessment scale was determined.A questionnaire survey was conducted on 342 hospitalized children with dwarfism for item analysis and reliability and validity tests. Moreover,a survey was carried out on children with dwarfism who visited the outpatient departments of three tertiary grade A hospitals to verify the stability of the scale. Results:The health literacy assessment scale for children with dwarfism included three dimensions:basic knowledge and concepts, healthy lifestyle and behaviors, and basic skills, with a total of 32 items. The total Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the scale was 0.901,the split-half reliability was 0.781,and the test-retest reliability was 0.942.The content validity index at the scale level was 0.844.Exploratory factor analysis extracted three common factors, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 60.796%;the results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the factor structure of the scale was stable. Conclusions:The constructed health literacy assessment scale for children with dwarfism has good reliability and validity, and it can be used for clinical assessment of the health literacy of children with dwarfism.
