Abstract:Objective:To investigate the status quo of intravenous infusion therapy in tertiary hospitals nationwide and to provide a basis for further improving the quality of intravenous infusion. Methods:A cross-sectional survey was conducted on conveniently selected tertiary medical institutions using the questionnaire on the current situation of intravenous infusion therapy in hospitals at all levels designed by the Intravenous Infusion Therapy Professional Committee of the Chinese Nursing Association. Results:A total of 1 199 valid questionnaires were recovered. The average infusion rate on the survey day was 71.9%.And the average number of bottles per person per day was 3.4.Intravenous therapy teams were established in 1 140(95.1%)hospitals.The usage rates of peripheral intravenous indwelling needles, peripherally inserted central catheters(PICC),and central venous catheters(CVC)were all above 90%.Three-way stopcocks were selected in 1 099(91.7%)hospitals.And infusion connectors were selected in 1 117(93.2%)hospitals.The technology for establishing central venous access was carried out in 1 090(90.9%)hospitals.And the PICC technology was carried out in 1 117(93.1%)hospitals.The main skin disinfectants in tertiary hospitals were povidone-iodine with an effective iodine concentration of more than 0.5%And 75%ethanol.The skin puncture site for disposable intravenous steel needles in 904(75.4%)hospitals was selected to be larger than 5 cm.And the skin disinfection range for peripheral intravenous indwelling needles in 957(79.8%)hospitals was selected to be larger than 8 cm.Conclusions:The skill of intravenous infusion therapy in tertiary hospitals in China has developed rapidly. However, but there are still some deficiencies. It is recommended that medical institutions further standardize the nursing operation procedures, implement training and assessment, and incorporate them into the nursing quality evaluation to standardize the nursing behavior of intravenous therapy,so as to promote the healthy development of the intravenous therapy in China.
