Abstract:Objective:To translate the Ocular Pain Assessment Survey(OPAS)into Chinese, and to test its reliability and validity. Methods:The English version of OPAS was translated following the Brislin translation model.Experts were invited to make cultural adaptations for it.After pre-investigation,the Chinese version of OPAS was formed.By using the convenient sampling method,a total of 367 outpatients visiting the dry eye outpatient department of a tertiary grade A ophthalmology specialist hospital in Jiangxi province from February to June 2024 were selected for investigation,to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of OPAS.Results:The Chinese version of OPAS included five dimensions:eye pain intensity,non-eye pain, quality of life, aggravating factors, and related factors, with a total of 22 items.Exploratory factor analysis extracted five common factors. And the cumulative contribution rate of variance was 68.361%.Confirmatory factor analysis showed that all indexes of the model were in the acceptable range. The scale-level content validity index(S-CVI)was 0.973.And the item-level content validity index(I-CVI)ranged from 0.818 to 1.000.The correlation coefficient between the total score of the Chinese version of OPAS and the score of the Wong-Baker Faces Pain Scale Revision(FPS-R)was 0.621.The total Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.904.And the Guttman split-half reliability was 0.846.Conclusions:The Chinese version of OPAS has good reliability and validity. It could be used as a tool for evaluating ocular pain in ophthalmic patients in China.
