Reliability and validity test of the Physical Resilience Instrument for Older Adults

Abstract:Objective:To validate the reliability and validity of the Physical Resilience Instrument for Older Adults(PRIFOR).Methods:Totally 350 elderly patients visiting two tertiary general hospitals in Tianjin from January to August 2023 were recruited as study participants for a questionnaire survey to assess the reliability and validity of the scale.Results:The PRIFOR consists of three dimensions:self-efficacy and future confidence,psychological resilience and problem-solving,perceived of social support,encompassing a total of 16 items with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 66.292%.The overall Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.940,the split-half reliability was 0.908,and the test-retest reliability was 0.876.Conclusion:The PRIFOR demonstrates good reliability and validity and can be used to evaluate physical resilience levels among elderly individuals in China.
