Latent profile analysis of home care behavior among family caregivers of disabled elderly people in communities

Abstract：Objective:To explore the current status of home care behaviors among family caregivers of disabled elderly people in communities,and to analyze the potential characteristics of home care behaviors of different categories in family caregivers,so as to provide reference for formulating differentiated family care strategies.Methods:A total of 302 disabled elderly people and their family caregivers were selected from 9 communities health service centers in Nanning from July 2022 to June 2023 by convenience sampling method.General data questionnaire and Home Care Behavior Scale of Disabled Elderly Caregivers were used to investigate.Mplus 8.3 software was used to analyze the potential profile of home care behavior for disabled elderly family caregivers.Results:The characteristics of home care behavior for disabled elderly family caregivers could be divided into three categories:low resilience-dependent care group(42.72%),small adaptation-cooperative care group(48.34%)and high control-independent care group(8.94%).With fewer types of chronic diseases,mild disability,and high caregiver education,the family caregivers'caregiving behavior of disabled elderly had a higher probability of belonging to the high control-independent care group.Male caregivers and children's caregiving behavior of disabled elderly had a higher probability of belonging to the low resilience-dependent care group.Conclusions:The home care behavior of disabled elderly family caregivers could be divided into three categories.Community workers should have a deep understanding of the individual characteristics of disabled elderly and family caregivers,and timely identify the population with low resilience-dependence care.Different long-term care strategies were developed according to individual characteristics to improve the family care behavior of disabled elderly people.
