Status quo and influencing factors of innovative behavior of nurses in general hospitals

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the status quo of innovative behavior of nurses in general hospitals and explore its influencing factors.Methods:A total of 1 228 nurses from 6 tertiary comprehensive hospitals and 6 secondary comprehensive hospitals in Hubei province and Shanxi province were selected as survey subjects by convenience sampling method from June to July 2023.The general information survey,Nurse Innovative Behavior Scale,Job Crafting Scale,and Self-Regulatory Fatigue Scale were used for the survey.Results:The total score of innovative behavior in nurses was 32.66±6.78.Linear regression analysis showed that age,position,participation in hospital-level or provincial-level or national-level fund projects during work period,the score of each dimension of job crafting,and the score of cognitive dimensions and emotional dimensions of ego depletion were the influencing factors of innovative behavior in nurses(P<0.05),explained 43.5%of the total variation of innovative behavior in nurses.Conclusion:Innovative behavior in nurses is at moderate level and needs further improvement.Nursing administrators should tailor effective interventions to decrease nurses'ego depletion,and promote their job crafting,so as to enhance level of innovative behavior in nurses.
