Chinese version of the 16-item of European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire and its reliability and validity test

Abstract：Objective:To translate the 16-item of European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire(HLS-EU-Q16)into Chinese,and to test its reliability and validity.Methods:According to the Brislin translation principle,the Chinese version of HLS-EU-Q16 was formed.A total of 192 respondents were selected for the questionnaire survey to test its reliability and validity.Results:The Chinese version of HLS-EU-Q16 included 3 dimensions and 16 items.The item-level content validity index(I-CVI)were 1.000,and the scale-level content validity index(S-CVI)was 1.000.The Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.923,and the retest reliability was 0.918.The Pearson correlation coefficient between the score of the Chinese version of HLS-EU-Q16 and the score of the Chinese version of Brief Health Literacy Screen was 0.631.Conclusions:The Chinese version of HLS-EU-Q16 has good reliability and validity,and it can be used to measure the level of adult health literacy in China.
