Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the reliability and validity of Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS) used in the study of social sup-port in domestic hospitalized patients, and to provide the scientific rigorous assessment tools for investigating the perceived social sup-port status quo of the hospitalized patients in China. Methods:Using the cluster sampling method,a total of 200 hospitalized patients with diabetes were investigated with PSSS,and the reliability and validity of the investigation results were tested. Results:The com-bined explanatory variation of 3 dimensions in PSSS scale was 67.139%,and the correlation coefficient was 0.290~0.398 between subscales, which was lower than the total scale, showed a higher reliability and validity of scale structure. The correlation coefficient between the three subscales and the total scale was 0.713~0.770,showed a good content validity. The theoretical model of the con-firmatory factor analysis scale showed χ2/d f=3.534,GFI=0.866,RMSEA=0.113.The Cronbach's α coefficients between the total scale and three subscales were 0.840,0.818,0.820,and 0.813 with the binary reliability 0.741~0.791,showed that a good reliability. Conclusion:The reliability and validity of PSSS were ideal, while the theoretical model used in the study of social support for hospitalized patients in China was not in good agreement with the actual observed value. Some of the items needed to be appropriately adjusted.
