Impact of postoperative mental health on quality of life of heart transplant recipients
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the mental health status of heart transplant recipients after surgery and analyze the effect on their quality of life (QOL).Methods:A total of 40 heart transplant recipients of the Heart and Vascular Surgery in Union Hospital from 2005 to 2014 were investigated by The Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90),the General Social Demographic Questionnaire,Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS),Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),and the MOS 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) face to face and through phone call. The influencing factors of the mental health status on QOL were analyzed. Results:The score of SCL-90 of heart transplant recipients was(1.89 ± 0.58) points, higher than that of normal people, indicating that the recipients were under cer-tain psychological pressure after surgery. The SAS score of cardiac transplant recipients was (41.76 ± 8.82) points, both of which were higher than the general population, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The age of the recipient and the mode of medical expenses expenditure had a certain influence on SAS and SDS score (P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the degree of anxiety and depression of the recipients, postoperative re-employment,and postoperative survival time were the key role in affecting the QOL of the recipients, including both physical health and mental health (P<0.05).Conclusions:The QOL of heart transplant recipients were related to age, gender, payment methods of medical expenses,re-employment status, family, and so-cial support.
