Survey and analysis of nurses'cognition on safety culture of patients

Abstract:To understand the status quo of nurses'cognition on safety culture of patients,and to provide evidences for devel‐oping and improving patients'safety strategies.Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted among 217 nurses in a third grade A hospital in Shanxi by the questionnaire of hospital patient safety culture.Results:The overall positive response rate of nurses'safety culture cognition of patients was 56.71%,and the reporting rate of adverse events was 39.05%.There was statistically significant difference in total cognition score on safety culture of patients among nurses in different department.Conclusions:The overall level of nurses'safety culture cognition of patients was lower.The hospital should create a non punitive reporting culture,innovate the man‐agement model of safety events,improve the status of nursing staff and establish a mechanism of communication and sharing.
