Study on level of body image and its influencing factors in patients with breast cancer
Abstract:To explore the level of body image and main influencing factors of patients after breast cancer surgery, and to provide a theoretical basis for clinical nursing intervention. Methods:A self-designed general questionnaire, body image scale(BIS)and social support rating scale(SSRS)were used to conduct a questionnaire survey of 202 cases of breast cancer patients after opera‐tion, and to analyze the influence of demographic characteristics, treatment factors, social support and other factors on the patient's body image. Results:the total score of body image of 202 cases of breast cancer patients after surgery was 10.57 ± 7.14.Spearman correlation analysis results showed age(rs= -0.140,P=0.047),marriageable age(rs= -0.181,P=0.013)were negative correlated with emotional dimension in body image.Logistic regression analysis results showed that profession [retirement vs freelance:OR=0.206,95%CI(0.051,0.832),P=0.027],surgical methods[conservative surgery vs non-conservative surgery:OR=0.250,95%CI(0.065,0.966),P=0.044],treatment[chemotherapy vs other:OR=0.399,95%CI(0.187,0.848),P=0.017],objective support[(8~10)vs >12:OR=0.232,95%CI(0.071,0.761),P=0.016],subjective support[(27~129)vs >29:OR=3.050,95%CI(1.103,8.440),P=0.032]were physical influencing factors. Conclusions:The overall body image level of the patients with breast cancer was lower. The nursing intervention should be strengthened for the young patients,or with short marriage age, freelance,or non-conservative surger‐y,to maximize the positive role of social support for patients,in order to improve the level of body image of patients after breast canc‐er surgery, improve their quality of life.
