Abstract:Objective:To investigate the status quo and correlation of resilience and self-care ability of the elderly living in nursing home, and to explore the influence of mental resilience on self-care ability. Methods:A total of 237 elderly living in 2 nursing homes of Tai'an city were investigated by The 14-Item Resilience Scale (RS-14) and The Chinese version of Self-care Ability Scale for the Elderly (SASE-CHI).Results:The total score of self-care ability of the elderly living in the nursing home was (62.59±10.82),and the total score of mental resilience score was (75.01± 10.33).The mental resilience was significantly correlated with the self-care ability(r=0.581,P<0.01).The regression analysis showed that the mental resilience could explain the total variation of 12.4 percent of self-care in elderly patients. Conclusions:The self-care ability and mental resilience of the elderly living in the nursing home were at moderate levels, and the mental resilience significantly affected patients'self-care ability.
