Influence of extended nursing based on opportunity theory on psychological burden and quality of life of caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's disease

Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of extended nursing based on opportunity theory on psychological burden and quality of life of caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's disease.Methods:A total of 160 caregivers of patients with A1zheimer's disease were divided into routine group and intervention group,80 cases in each group.Patients in the routine group were given routine continuous nursing of neurology department,and patients in the intervention group were extended nursing based on opportunity theory.The scores of caregiver Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI),symptom checklist (SCL-90),the WHO of quality of life scale (WHOQOL-BREF) before and after intervention were compared between the two groups.Results:The two groups significantly reduce the burden of caregivers in the intervention after 1 year(P<0.05).The intervention group of caregivers of ZBI score(24.35±2.68) was significantly lower than that in the conventional group(35.65±4.28)(P<0.05).After intervention,the dimensions and total scores of SCL-90 scale of caregivers in two groups were significantly lower than those before intervention(P<0.05).After intervention,the four dimensions and total scores of WHOQOL-BREF scale of caregivers in two groups were significantly higher than those before intervention(P<0.05).The scores of each field and total score of intervention group was significantly higher than the conventional group(P<0.05).Conclusions:The extended nursing based on opportunity theory can obviously reduce the burden of caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's disease,improve their mental status and improve their quality of life.
