Influence of health literacy on self-management behavior of patients with essential hypertension
Abstract:Objective:To explore influence of health literacy on self-management behavior of patients with essential hypertension.Methods:A total of 419 patients with essential hypertension were investigated by the questionnaire of health literacy for patients with chronic diseases and self management questionnaire for hypertension patients in 1 outpatients of three grade A hospitals in a city.Results:The score of health literacy in patients with essential hypertension was(85.30±9.11).The score of self-management behaviors was(70.67± 9.20).Health literacy was positively correlated with self-management behavior (P < 0.01).Regression analysis showed that,after controlling general data,health literacy increased 17.5 % of the variance in self management behaviors,the 2 dimensions of the regression equation were information acquisition ability and health improvement intention.Conclusions:In order to achieve effective control of blood pressure,we should pay attention to the cultivation and promotion of health literacy in the intervention of self-management behaviors of patients with hypertension.
