Mediation role of"rumination meditations in purpose"between stigma and quality of life among elderly colostomy patients
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the relationship between stigma and quality of life in elderly colostomy pa-tients,and the mediating effect of rumination meditations in purpose.Methods:A total of 343 elderly colostomy patients were selected by convenient sampling method;they were investigated by General Information Question-naire,Social Impact Scale (SIS),Event Related Rumination Inventory (ERRI)and Stoma QOL.Results:The scores of SIS,ERRI,Stoma QOL were (66.74±10.18)(13.36±4.13),and (51.23±10.18),respectively.The Pearson correlation analysis showed that stigma of elderly colostomy patients was negatively related with rumi-nation meditations in purpose and quality of life (r=-0.39,-0.52;P<0.01).Rumination meditations in purpose were positively related to the quality of life(r=0.46,P<0.01).The mediator effect test showed that rumina-tion meditations in purpose partially mediates the relationship between stigma and quality of life (36.4%).Con-clusions:Colostomy influenced the stigma,rumination meditations in purpose and quality of life of elderly pa-tients in different degrees.
