Study on status quo and influencing factors of academic delay of gratification among undergraduate nursing students

Abstract:Objective:To probe into the status quo of academic delay gratification among undergraduate nursing students and analyze its influencing factors.Methods:A total of 847 undergraduate nursing students in a medical college were selected and investigated by the academic delay gratification scale and the self-directed learning readiness scale.Results:The academic delay gratification score of undergraduate nursing students was(2.87 ±0.52),which belonged to the medium upper level.The total score of academic delay gratification of undergraduate nursing students was positively related to the total score of self-directed learning readiness(r=0.358,P<0.01).Grade,whether or not the only child,the degree of interest in the nursing profession and the degree of readiness for self-directed learning had an influence on academic delay(R2 =0.219,F=59.955,P<0.001).Conclusions:Nursing students should strengthen the self directed learning ability,nursing educators should implement the hierarchical teaching according to different features and different levels of undergraduate nursing students need to be able to play the greatest potential of students,improve their self-directed learning readiness,delayed instant gratification and pursuit a higher level of academic gratification.
