Construction and reliability and validity test of Nursing Mini-Clinical Evaluation Scale
Abstract:Objective:To establish a Mini-Clinical Examination Exercise (Mini-CEX) for evaluating nursing students'' clinical skills. Methods:According to the nursing program and Miller pyramid model, literature review and brainstorming were used to construct the items of the scale.Revising the scale based on expert assessment, the small scale test, and the pre-test.A total of 311 undergraduates were tested as a large sample, and the reliability and validity were tested. Results:The nursing Mini-CEX included 4 dimensions and 14 items. The Cronbach''s α coefficient and the content validity of the scale were 0.810 and 0.916 respectively. The exploratory factor analysis could extract four common factors, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 70.457%.Confirmatory factor analysis showed a good fitting index. Conclusions:The nursing Mini-CEX scale had a good reliability and validity, and provided a tool for the accurate evaluation of clinical skills of nursing undergraduates. It also provided a basis for nursing education staff to carry out effective management.
